In addition to working as an innovation consultancy, engineering projects considered strategic for the future are also developed within SFICE.

This is the case of the RED – Range Extender Drones project, where SFICE has developed a hybrid extended range system for drones.

The objective of this project is to break a technological barrier that helps drone technology to penetrate markets in which it was not profitable or viable until now and even improve its performance for those in which it has already been successfully tested.

If work is done in line with the objectives of the RED project, and especially with regard to propulsion systems, the use of drones could increase and serve public sectors such as: citizen security, rescue in areas of difficult access both at sea and mountains, fire prevention, search for lost people in wooded areas, support for state security forces in emergency situations, etc.

With the implementation of this hybrid system, it is expected to achieve autonomies of more than 4 hours in flight, and distances traveled that can exceed 300 or 400 km. Without a doubt, this could mean a revolutionary technological leap in the short term.

The RED project has been developed with the support of the financing program of the Government of Aragon PAIP 2018 , being selected among the best valued projects
